Editor’s Note

This special edition of the Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management focuses on issues related to urban hydrosystems and is dedicated in memory of Dr. G. V. Loganathan, who devoted much of his professional career to this area of civil engineering. Six of the papers deal with issues related to water distribution systems (including plumbing), while additional papers deal with storm water, wet weather discharges, and reservoir operations. At least one coauthor from each of the papers knew G. V. personally either as a colleague or as a former student.

I would like to thank ASCE and the Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) as well as the members of the EWRI Systems Committee (and in particular Downey Brill, Walter Grayman, Jerry Stedinger, and Avi Ostfeld) for their vision and support of this project, both through submitted papers and by providing critical reviews. I would also like to thank Daene McKinney and the ASCE staff for all their help in putting this special edition together—without their continued encouragement and assistance, this project would have never been completed.
