Partial Flow Properties in Circular Sewers
Publication: Journal of Transportation Engineering
Volume 114, Issue 1
Abstract
Partial flow problems in circular pipes are commonly solved using standard hydraulic element charts or nomograms. These methods are tedious, monotonous, and subject to errors. The widespread availability of the desktop computer provides a means of overcoming the problems associated with extant solution methods. A computational procedure based on the Manning equation is presented, which solves for the partial flow properties of wetted area, wetted perimeter, hydraulic radius, depth of flow, and velocity.
