Surveying with Motorola Eagle GPS Receiver
Publication: Journal of Surveying Engineering
Volume 115, Issue 2
Abstract
Surveying results with the Global Positioning System (GPS) have impressed those in the surveying industry because of the potential for a drastic reduction in the time and effort required for many projects. The Motorola Eagle Geodetic Receiver System has achieved a major step in the direction of meeting the requirements of a practical GPS surveying tool that can be used with a minimum of support personnel. By combining the small size and light weight of the popular Motorola Eagle GPS Receiver with a modest laptop computer, a costeffective system for performing geodetic survey work has been developed. The menu‐driven operation of the system is described, and is designed to be easy to use with a minimum of training. Features also described include a self‐contained baseline adjustment program, as well as other features that enhance the efficiency of dealing with data from large survey projects.
