Capacities of OSB-Sheathed Light-Frame Shear-Wall Panels with or without Perforations

Abstract
Walls of low-rise wood light-frame buildings are commonly employed as the primary means for resisting damaging effects of horizontal forces caused by events like hurricanes and earthquakes. Here test data show how openings for doors and windows influence the in-plane shear stiffness and load capacity of light-frame wall panels sheathed with oriented strand board. Findings contribute to improved design data.
