Abstract
The stability functions of beam‐columns are investigated. The function ( force, in the direction of bar axis) is determined for three basic cases (beam‐column built‐in at both ends, beam‐column built‐in at one end and hinged at the other, and bar hinged at both ends) including the effect of a transversal, uniformly distributed load acting on the bar. These functions are used in the stiffness‐matrix of the bar. Numerical problems are discussed.
