Outflow Uniformity along a Continuous Manifold

Abstract
The analytical solution of the differential-form momentum equation for the outflow distribution along a continuous multiple-port diffuser is derived. The solution is verified by comparison with available experimental data. The outflow patterns along the diffuser are determined by the range of two dimensionless parameters, which measure the effects of wall friction and port momentum, respectively. A concept of flow uniformity of lateral discharge is explored, and an analytical formula for the evaluation of uniformity is derived. A simple formula is also proposed which may be useful in the design of the multiple-port diffuser.
