Calculating Average Filling Rock Diameter for Gabion-Mattress Channel Design
Publication: Journal of Hydraulic Engineering
Volume 124, Issue 9
Abstract
The incomplete self-similarity concept is presented to develop the rock stability equation (RSE) and corresponding stability coefficient for gabion-mattress channels. Next, for each side-slope value, s, of a trapezoidal cross section, the RSE and the uniform channel flow equation are expressed by two dimensionless groups. Finally, for each s value, the relationship between these dimensionless groups is expressed by a power equation that allows deduction of an explicit relationship for calculating the average filling rock diameter.
