Note on Ayoub's Data of Horizontal Round Buoyant Jet in Current
Publication: Journal of Hydraulic Engineering
Volume 115, Issue 7
Abstract
Detailed tracer concentration measurements of a horizontal round buoyant jet in a uniform current are interpreted with the use of length scales. Jet trajectory and centerline dilution relations are obtained for momentum jets in a crossflowing and coflowing current. The derived correlations in the momentum-dominated far field (MDFF) of a jet in crossflow are particularly relevant to the design of wastewater outfalls in rivers or brackish estuarine waters.
