Seepage Towards Vertical Cuts

Publication: Journal of Geotechnical Engineering
Volume 113, Issue 12

Abstract

Conformal mapping solutions for two‐dimensional steadystate seepage towards vertical excavated faces are presented. Solutions in parametric form are developed for the shape of the free surface and the height of intersection of the free surface and the seepage face. Although the current solution applies strictly to infinite flow domains, an approach to obtain nonparametric solutions for long finite flow domains without much loss of accuracy is also outlined.
