Editor’s Note

Publication: Journal of Engineering Mechanics
Volume 131, Issue 1
As the new editor of the Journal of Engineering Mechanics it gives me great pleasure to extend my personal greetings to all of the authors, reviewers, and readers that make this one of the most highly respected and valuable venues in the world for the sharing of advancements in engineering mechanics. Since 1956, the Journal has published the results of innovative theory and experimentation with researchers and practitioners in computational and experimental methods, dynamics, elastic and inelastic behavior, fluids, materials, stability, turbulence, and probabilistic methods. The high level of quality in the Journal and the esteem with which it is regarded are a tribute to the associate editors and the reviewers, who dedicate their talents and expertise to ensure that this tradition continues. Therefore, I especially want to thank them for their selfless service.
I would like to thank Mircea Grigroriu, the past editor, for his dedication to maintaining the quality of the Journal, and to his immediate predecessors, Stein Sture and Zdenek Bažant. Together they have given tirelessly to the Journal for more than 2 decades. And most of all I want to thank you, the worldwide readership. Your dependence on the Journal of Engineering Mechanics as a key source for disseminating your research as well as for being kept informed is why all of us involved are proud to be a part.
I am open to new ideas and suggestions for making the Journal even better. Everything will be considered from first principles: does it enhance the quality and value of the Journal for the engineering mechanics community and the world at large?
I look forward to collaborating in our shared mission.
