Explicit Postbuckling Analysis of Water‐Loaded Angle‐Section Beams
Publication: Journal of Engineering Mechanics
Volume 117, Issue 5
Abstract
A simple analytical solution for the buckling and postbuckling behavior of elastic thin-walled angle cross section beams under liquid loading is presented. The main assumptions made concern the one-dimensional modeling of the system, and that the primary equilibrium path is approximated by a constant bending state in the longitudinal direction. The results are written in convenient analytical form for both buckling load and postbuckling behavior, and show stable symmetric bifurcation.
