Stress Concentrations in Composite Laminates
Publication: Journal of Engineering Mechanics
Volume 113, Issue 8
Abstract
The problem of stress concentration in composite laminates with two identical elliptical holes and subjected to in‐plane loads as well as a shear load is solved using complex variable techniques through the use of single hole results with proper extensions. Maclaurin series expansions are used. All three different cases of orthotropy are included. A parametric, study is carried out on the variation of stress concentration due to a change of the distance between the holes, the size and geometry of the holes, the loading direction, and the laminate characteristics.
