Technical Theory of Beams with Normal Strain
Publication: Journal of Engineering Mechanics
Volume 110, Issue 8

A new sixth order technical theory for the bending of beams is presented, which includes the influence of transverse normal strain. Appropriate boundary conditions are delineated. Application to the bending of a simple beam verifies improvement over shear deformation solution.
