Axial Vibration of Partially Embedded Pile Groups in Layered Soil
Publication: Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering
Abstract
In this paper, a simplified analytical method was developed for the axial harmonic response of partially embedded pile groups in layered soil. Based on pile-to—pile interaction factors, transfer matrix method was used to setup the dynamic model of partially embedded pile groups. A comprehensive parameter study focused on the influence of length ratio(L1/L2), pile spacing(s/d) and vibration frequency(f) on the dynamic response of pile groups, and following conclusions could be got: (1) the increase of length ratio(L1/L2) would reduce vertical dynamic impedance of single and pile groups; (2) the pile-pile interaction factors vary with the pile spacing and vibration frequency, and will be seriously weaken for length ratio (L1/L2); (3) the length ration (L1/L2) has evident influence on dynamic response of pile foundations with the rise of vibration frequency.
