Special Collection on Fate and Removal of Poly- and Perfluoralkyl Substances (PFAS) in Natural and Engineered Systems

Guest Editors: Dr. Feng Xiao, University of North Dakota, ND, USA; Dr. Yin Wang, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, WI, USA; Dr. Jennifer Guelfo, Texas Tech University, TX, USA; Dr. Natalia Soares Quinete, Florida International University, FL, USA; Dr. Charles Schaefer, CDM Smith, NJ, USA; Dr. Endalkachew Sahle-Demessie, EPA, OH, USA

Poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) comprise a group of synthetic organic compounds with many industrial and commercial applications. PFOS and PFOA are known global concerns because of persistence, toxicity and bioaccumulation potential. The purpose of this Special Collection is to highlight the work of the Environmental Engineering community on developing innovative solutions to address widespread pollution by PFAS. We aim to highlight the research that reflects the breadth, depth, and quality of recent activities carried out by environmental engineers and their close collaborators.
