Making the Evidence Count
Abstract
Sometimes, ideas generated for one field can work just as well for another. In 2010, we read Tom Frieden's landmark paper, “A Framework for Public Health Action: The Health Impact Pyramid.” Frieden's motivation for writing the piece was the ineffectiveness of much of medical research and its implementation into health care at scale. The article uses a five-tier pyramid to describe the impact of different types of public health interventions and provides a framework to improve health for individuals and society.
