ASCE publishes Civil Engineering Magazine through the Communications Department.

CONTENT TYPES

The technical and professional journals of the Society are the media through which independent researchers report their experiences and the results of their studies for the advancement of the civil engineering profession. Technical content is carefully peer-reviewed for possible publication in one of ASCE’s journals and periodicals.

ASCE e-books provide state-of-the-practice information and guidance on today’s engineering methods and technologies, from design and planning through application in the field. The collection includes ASCE Standards, Manuals and Reports on Engineering Practice, Committee Technical Reports, and ASCE Press titles.
  • Manuals and Reports on Engineering Practice
Manuals and Reports on Engineering Practice, are developed to aid practitioners of civil engineering on specific topics. Manuals are authored by ASCE committees and approved by Blue Ribbon Panels. Manuals are numbered series published in print and online.
  •
  • Committee Technical Reports
Special reports prepared by the technical and professional committees of ASCE may be published as individual volumes. Approval by the appropriate division, council, or institute executive committee is required for publication.
  •
  • ASCE Press
ASCE Press, a publishing imprint of ASCE, is a traditional scientific/technical publisher. ASCE Press publishes a select number of carefully chosen, applications-oriented books for civil engineers and offers quality production, targeted marketing, and competitive royalties to its authors. For submission guidelines, visit our Author Center.

In 2016, the Board of Direction approved revisions to the ASCE Rules for Standards Committees to govern the writing and maintenance of standards developed by ASCE. All such standards are developed by a consensus standards process managed by the ASCE Codes and Standards Committee (CSC). The consensus process includes balloting by the balanced standards committee and reviewing during a public comment period. All standards are updated or reaffirmed by the same process every five to ten years.
  • ASCE Amplify
This subscription-based platform replicates the provisions and commentary of ASCE 7-22, ASCE 7-16, and ASCE 7-10 with enhanced features that make it easier for engineers to work with the standard.
  •
  • ASCE Hazard Tool
This free web-based application offers a better way to look up key design parameters specified by Standard ASCE 7.

Convention and Conference Papers
On application, in advance, by a division Executive Committee or an institute Governing Board, the papers presented at national conventions and specialty conferences may be offered for sale as a proceedings publication. ASCE conference papers are also included in the online ASCE Library; the digital archive includes all conference proceedings published since 2000 and selected proceedings since 1996. Conference papers are available to purchase either as a whole conference collection or individual conference papers.

Engineer, Owner, and Construction Related Documents
ASCE distributes contract documents/forms of agreement prepared by the Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee (EJCDC) and published by ASCE, the American Consulting Engineers Council, and the National Society of Professional Engineers. Contract documents come as Microsoft Word files that can be immediately downloaded or purchased on a CD-ROM. EJCDC contract documents are available for purchase at a 50% discount for ASCE Members.
